Gaëtan Bas Lorant is a French artist, set designer and independent researcher.
His practice is rooted in research through artistic practice, since 2022 he is working on the concept of petroculture and the creation of new petro-fictions.
His work examines the relationship between humans, civilizations, and oil not from a utilitarian perspective, but as a carrier of emancipatory narratives. Through the use of various media such as installation, photography, and sculpture, he explores the transformations of matter and the stories it conveys across history and within contemporary ecological dynamics.
